• Did you grow up in a household where there was plenty of money or one where money was scarce?  How do you think this has affected your view of a biblical view of money or stewardship?

• It is said that Jesus talked more about money than he did about heaven or hell. What do you remember him saying about it? If you remember a good number of things, how many of them influence your own perspective on money? If you don’t remember many, how does that make you feel about your ability to trust Him in this area of your life?

• MENTOR: What has been your career journey so far?  How has money played a part in your choices?

Reading & Reflection from the book, Shaping The Journey of Emerging Adults:

• Review the following scenarios: Jon and Sarah (pp. 23-24), Chanda & Lisette and Roger (p. 30), Kara (p. 130), AJ (p. 143) and Krista and Chuck (p. 190).  If you are a young adult, do you relate to any of the money challenges in these stories? If you are a mentor, what do you notice most about the challenges young adults have financially (also see the facts about career instability on p. 30 and money spent on music on p. 35).

• Read “Empower them with needed skills for pursuing lifestyle, financial or career goals” (p. 203). Make a list of known resources you have used or are aware of and share them with each other.  

• MENTOR: Read "The Landscape of Emerging Adults" (pp. 29-33).  Take special note of what was different for your generation financially than it is for young adults these days.  Share this comparison list with the young adult and ask their perspective on it.
